![]() | an irc help channel, web site and mailing list for genealogy web page creators |
|
Beginning in late March 1998, the #htmlhelp channel has been meeting on rootsweb.irc.com to discuss, share, learn about and help with the creation, design and maintenance of web pages and sites which present genealogy, both data sites and family history oriented sites, including county and country sites.
This site grew out of the initial need for some where for our regulars to *practice* and to upload progressive demonstrations as we tried out different techniques. It is still very much in process, so watch us grow... in fact, join us and help! Some of our regulars have created tutorials and FAQ pages and more are coming. A few months ago we added a mail list to our tool chest which we use to announce upcoming topics for our two Sunday sessions on irc, share *neat stuff* we've found or learned and to answer questions, especially for those who can not make it to our live irc chats. Our WEBTREE Project is an ongoing exploration of the results of converting the data from various genealogy programs to html pages. Results and commentaries are here for most popular programs and some alternate methods. |
